Special Services

Liz Lerman

Liz Lerman periodically leads part of the Kabbalat Shabbat Friday night  service and integrates movement and worship.  Liz, who is the Founding Director of the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange and is a MacArthur Award recipient, has been successfully demonstrating how worship can be translated into movement for several years.

Please come and just participate in the usual ways that you do at any service.  You don't have to "do" the movement part.  Just being there all together, with some moving and some not, is a wonderful way to begin Shabbat.   As Liz has said, "you may find yourself surprised by the connections you feel -- perhaps to others, to your own history, to the prayer, even to God.  I just know that when we engage our whole selves we might enter our Friday night with a renewed spirit."

These services are very special and unique and you won't want to miss them.

Annual Shabbat Shirah

With 11 different versions of “Mi Chamocha”, three different choirs of singers from age seven to 67, and a full orchestra of Temple members, we joyfully celebrate Shabbat Shirah.  We chant and sing the “Song of the Sea,” including the familiar Mi Chamocha text. This is the annual service where all of Temple Micah's musical forces come together to create an amazing worship experience.

Congregational Havdalot

Held periodically throughout the year on Saturday afternoons -- please check for specific time. Each of these havdalot is meant for the entire community. They are being sponsored by different groups in the congregation and each has child care or includes activities for children.

Annual Cemetery Memorial Service

Held annually at the Temple Micah cemetery on a Sunday morning before Rosh Hashanah.
