Monday Morning Group

Group meets typically biweekly on Monday mornings at the Temple to read and discuss one book each year

Beginning after the high holy days, October 15, the Monday Morning Group will be discussing the book Choices in Modern Jewish Thought by Eugene B. Borowitz. Borowitz re-examines our century's major Jewish thinkers, allowing the reader to achieve a richer understanding of post-modern Judaism, and the spiritual needs of modern-day Jews. Included are new chapters on mysticism, post-modernism and Jewish feminist theology. Other subjects include: the challenge of modernity, Zionism, the Holocaust, and issues of personal autonomy. Participants are responsible for obtaining the book.

The book for 2006-2007 was Jesus and Yahweh by Harold Bloom. In 2005-2006, the group discussed To Do the Right and the Good: A Jewish Approach to Modern Social Ethics by Elliot Dorff.  In 2004-2005, the group engaged in the study of Jewish mysticism using the book The Mystic Quest by David Ariel.
